Their working conditions are such that they need more care and protection than other jobs in order. The inability to track and locate firefighters during firefighting operations is one of the problems that the fire department always has faced and is an essential priority in maintaining the firefighters’ health. SAFE (Smart Assistant Firefighter Equipment) is a system for tracking the location and reporting the physical condition of firefighters. It continuously sends information over the radio and traces firefighters’ movement in burning buildings where GPS signals are unavailable and because of the smoke and flame laser-based tracking technologies are useless, visualizing on 2D and 3D maps, and intelligent guidance for the operations command team to find out what firefighters are facing are the other outstanding features of SAFE.
Another challenge for firefighters is time, when firefighters arrive on the scene, they do not have enough time to use complicated technology. Therefore, what firefighters need to increase safety is a positioning-health monitoring system that tracks them inside burning buildings without prior notice of the floor plan of the building.

TARATEACH Co.,Ltd researchers have designed and manufactured SAFE to track firefighters at all times and monitor vital signs by equipping firefighters with smart monitoring system. The signals are routed from IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) and smart bracelet to the radio unit mounted on the firefighter chest. Then, this data is transmitted to the command team based in the fire truck (Gateway) and controls what firefighters are facing.
